Guatemala 2012

This week my husband is in Guatemala. He and a team of other medical professionals and volunteers went down to a hospital in San Lucas, Guatemala for mission work there. They are performing a variety of medical services for the people there at no cost. People come from all around, with varying degrees of maladies. They camp out at the hospital, eager to be seen and treated. The patients age from a few months to very many years. Their issues are just as diverse. Last year, my husband treated a man who cut his hand severely with a machete. Guatemala is a huge exporter of coffee, and apparently this man must have been a worker. My husband reattatched the severed hand, tendons, vasculature, and all. This year they reported that the man miraculously has complete and full use of his hand! Let me just pause here and say: GOD is good. He works THROUGH us and uses the gifts He gave us to do His work. May HE get the glory! Yesterday they did 17 cases in ten hours of work. Today he said they had 18 scheduled. I have not gotten an email update from him today, and I am not surprised. I only hope he's able to rest enough. Please pray with me that the people of San Lucas would be served and be forever changed by the care they are receiving from this team of docs and nurses, etc. May they be blessed. And please bring them home safe, too!
